Summary

This master’s thesis focuses on the analysis of road traffic in selected locations within the city of Olomouc, based on data obtained from magnetometers as part of the EnCLOD project sensor network. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate traffic intensity, occupancy, and utilization in different types of locations, such as residential areas, a university campus, and parking facilities in the city center, with regard to temporal and other influencing factors. The theoretical part introduces the EnCLOD project, describes approaches to traffic analysis using sensor data, outlines different types of traffic sensors, and discusses the development of road traffic in the Czechia and worldwide. The practical part is based on data collected from magnetometers, which are analyzed using statistical methods and data visualization tools. The analysis focuses on evaluating traffic intensity, spatial relationships of entry and exit utilization, overall occupancy of locations, and traffic flow dynamics. It also includes an assessment of the influence of external factors, such as climatic conditions or specific events, and validation of the results through field research. The outputs of the thesis include an overview of the traffic situation in the monitored locations in the form of maps and graphical representations, as well as recommendations for improving traffic conditions with respect to the city’s parking policy.
